NLAS leads in helping the disadvantaged groups’ access justice

There is nothing more satisfying to us than seeing the disadvantaged, vulnerable and marginalized communities able to access justice.
Under the Legal Aid Act, we are mandated to offer legal aid which include free legal advice, legal representation, and assistance in resolving disputes by alternative dispute resolution, drafting of relevant court documents and helping parties reach any out of court settlement.
Our operations are premised on Article 48 of the Constitution which provides that the State shall ensure access to justice for all persons and if any fee is required, it shall be reasonable and shall not impede access to justice.
Through support from the European Union under the Programme for Legal Empowerment and Aid Delivery, we are reaching out to many communities and vulnerable persons with Free Legal Services:
